The Musings of a Carefree Heart

As you can tell, I’m a little obsessed with my fruit. These were actually eaten yesterday; I had gone to get a snack pre-economics and a real lunch after. Both times I managed to take the last of the strawberries, and both times the girls behind me were giving me death glares from hell. Well, too bad. :D

Today was a great day! I’m sick with a cold and sleep deprived (note: I have no idea how I managed to stay immune to the rounds of flus and colds going around all winter, yet the moment “spring” is announced, I catch a cold) but, I managed to get through the week and attend the Annual Economics Networking dinner. I got a lot of advice from alumni that I didn’t want to know, but I’m still appreciative haha. Also! I got my acceptance letters from the Honors Program and my summer internship in Taiwan!! SCORE AND SCORE! Mama Chen is definitely proud today :]

Anyone have good suggestions for music? I am starting to hate my iTunes.

I have seriously been putting off this research paper for my Women’s Social Justice class. I said I’d start it saturday; it is now monday night. And all I want to do is sleep. It’s likely I’ll be beating myself up tomorrow night. And my topic is interesting, but right now I’m not up to sorting through dozens of articles on the yakuza and sex trafficking. So fuck you procrastination, you’ve won again.

March….but where the fuck is spring? I’m sick of 38 degree weather. SPRING please come soon -__-

A man won a Nobel prize just for this thought. The idea that sometimes, something must be destroyed for something new to fill the emptied space. I feel like there are certain things that I need to destroy. There are thoughts that linger and I can’t ignore them anymore. I want to make empty space in hopes of something better. I crave silence. There isn’t chaos, but there’s conflict. I want to create something new and change around the dynamics in my life. But I can’t do anything when the space is all filled up. There is no room to grow and no room for anything else at the moment. Why is it that we seek comfort in what we’re familiar with? That it takes something monumental or tragic to shake our thoughts? The scale hasn’t been tipped yet, but its balance is precarious and I sense that soon, something will change. I just hope that if destruction does come, something better will rise from the ashes.
